Em 9 de maio de 1934, o presidente Get\u00falio Vargas assina o Decreto n\u00ba 24.217 aproveitando recursos provenientes de sobras de arrecada\u00e7\u00e3o junto ao funcionalismo p\u00fablico federal. Tratava-se de um Fundo Especial constitu\u00eddo em 1930, para socorrer e amparar os &#8220;sem emprego&#8221;, o que caracterizava o esp\u00edrito de solidariedade humana do funcionalismo p\u00fablico federal. O Presidente da Rep\u00fablica decide aplic\u00e1-lo na constru\u00e7\u00e3o de um hospital, sob a denomina\u00e7\u00e3o de Hospital do Funcion\u00e1rio P\u00fablico Federal. Em 1938, com a cria\u00e7\u00e3o do\u00a0<acronym title=\"Instituto de Pens\u00e3o e Aposentadoria dos Servidores do Estado\">IPASE<\/acronym>\u00a0(Instituto de Pens\u00e3o e Aposentadoria dos Servidores do Estado), que incorporou o hospital, ele passa a se chamar Hospital dos Servidores do Estado &#8211; HSE. Ap\u00f3s 13 anos da assinatura do Decreto, em 28 de outubro de 1947, dia do Funcion\u00e1rio P\u00fablico, o HSE era inaugurado.<\/p>\n<p>Desde sua funda\u00e7\u00e3o, o hospital se destacou pelo seu pioneirismo assistencial e educacional. Formou diversos especialistas do pa\u00eds. M\u00e9dicos vinham de diversas regi\u00f5es do Brasil para realizar resid\u00eancia m\u00e9dica no HSE, uns inclusive morando nos alojamentos de residente, que existem at\u00e9 hoje. Foi introdutor de um centro de estudos dentro da estrutura hospitalar, com biblioteca e edi\u00e7\u00e3o de revista m\u00e9dica, destinado ao desenvolvimento t\u00e9cnico-cient\u00edfico de seu corpo cl\u00ednico. Atualmente, o centro de estudos tamb\u00e9m possibilita aos m\u00e9dicos e residentes acesso ao portal Up to Date, com casos cl\u00ednicos, artigos e atualiza\u00e7\u00f5es.<\/p>\n<p>Por ser um hospital de refer\u00eancia, o HSE recebeu &#8220;Classe A&#8221; no Sistema Internacional de Classifica\u00e7\u00e3o de Hospitais e atendeu cinco presidentes da Rep\u00fablica:\u00a0Jos\u00e9 Linhares, Caf\u00e9 Filho, Juscelino Kubistcheck, Jo\u00e3o Goulart e Jo\u00e3o Baptista Figueiredo. Eles, inclusive, contavam com uma su\u00edte exclusiva que ficava no 11\u00ba andar.<\/p>\n<p>Com a extin\u00e7\u00e3o do IPASE, em 1977, ele passou a ser gerido pelo INPS (Instituto Nacional de Previd\u00eancia Social) e depois integrando o Sistema \u00danico de Sa\u00fade (SUS), com a ger\u00eancia passando ao Minist\u00e9rio da Sa\u00fade em 1990.<\/p>\n<p>J\u00e1 a hist\u00f3ria do servi\u00e7o de Gastrohepatologia do hospital tem in\u00edcio em\u00a01949, com a chefia do Dr. Jos\u00e9 Rodrigues da Silva, que depois deu lugar ao Dr. Fl\u00e1vio San Juan. Em 1987, a Dra. Maria de F\u00e1tima Alencar Araripe do Amaral (m\u00e9dica residente do servi\u00e7o em 1961\/62) assumiu a chefia passando a mesma para o Dr. Silvando Barbalho que ficou no cargo at\u00e9 setembro de 2007, quando se aposentou. Passei toda minha vida de residente, que foram 2 anos de clinica m\u00e9dica e 1 em Gastroenterologia e depois passei para o staff do hospital, no setor da Gastro&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>A declara\u00e7\u00e3o acima \u00e9 do Dr. Silvando Barbalho, ex-chefe do servi\u00e7o e presidente da Associa\u00e7\u00e3o de Gastroenterologia do Rio de Janeiro no bi\u00eanio 1986\/87. Sua hist\u00f3ria na Medicina passa muito pela hist\u00f3ria do HFSE, como ele pr\u00f3prio retrata:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEu me formei em 1962 e logo em janeiro eu j\u00e1 estava inscrito como m\u00e9dico residente do Hospital dos Servidores do Estado do Rio. Eu sou de Pernambuco, do interior do Estado. Eu vim pra c\u00e1 porque desde aquela \u00e9poca j\u00e1 se falava do Hospital dos Servidores como um hospital de alto padr\u00e3o, foi at\u00e9 considerado como sendo hospital padr\u00e3o A, o que realmente mostrava como ele tinha influ\u00eancia nos pa\u00edses da Am\u00e9rica do Sul e no Brasil, considerado o que tinha de mais moderno. Ent\u00e3o, n\u00f3s viemos para fazer a resid\u00eancia. Uma coisa importante era que o hospital, que estava praticamente no in\u00edcio, j\u00e1 contava com resid\u00eancia m\u00e9dica que obedecia as linhas gerais dos hospitais com resid\u00eancia dos EUA, al\u00e9m de aparelhagem de primeira gera\u00e7\u00e3o e uma organiza\u00e7\u00e3o muito bem feita, baseada na medicina ocidental. Praticamente toda minha forma\u00e7\u00e3o m\u00e9dica e quase toda viv\u00eancia em Medicina foi no Hospital dos Servidores do Estado&#8221;, declarou.<\/p>\n<p>Um marco do servi\u00e7o ocorreu em 1994, quando da edi\u00e7\u00e3o do livro \u201cGastroenterologia- Rotinas Terap\u00eauticas\u201d, elaborado pela equipe do setor na \u00e9poca:\u00a0 Dr. Humberto Cortes Fonseca, Dra. Let\u00edcia Cancela Nabuco, Dr. Paulo de Tarso de Aparecida Pinto, Dr. Silvando Barbalho Rodrigues e Dra. Vera L\u00facia Fran\u00e7a Corr\u00eaa.<\/p>\n<p>Hoje, o servi\u00e7o conta com 5 residentes (3 R1 e 2 R2)\u00a0 e ambulat\u00f3rio que atende cerca de 600 pacientes por m\u00eas, da seguinte forma:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gastroenterologia geral (coordenadora: Dra. Let\u00edcia Reis);<\/li>\n<li>Hepatologia (p\u00f3lo de refer\u00eancia para tratamento de hepatites virais B e C. Coordena\u00e7\u00e3o: Dr. Paulo de Tarso);<\/li>\n<li>Hepatocarcinoma (coordenadora: Dra. C\u00e1ssia Regina Guedes Leal);<\/li>\n<li>Doen\u00e7as Inflamat\u00f3rias Intestinais (coordenador: Dr. Bernardo Junger)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Para diagnosticar os pacientes, o servi\u00e7o conta com toda a estrutura do hospital e das outras especialidades m\u00e9dicas presentes, como a radiologia intervencionista e a Medicina nuclear. Al\u00e9m disso, d\u00e1 pareceres sobre gastro-hepatologia para os demais setores do hospital, sempre que necess\u00e1rio.<\/p>\n<p>Na enfermaria, os m\u00e9dicos do servi\u00e7o d\u00e3o assist\u00eancia a 12 leitos, em m\u00e9dia.<\/p>\n<p>Diariamente h\u00e1 se\u00e7\u00f5es cl\u00ednicas com os m\u00e9dicos e residentes debatendo casos cl\u00ednicos e artigos, al\u00e9m dos rounds
