Esses s\u00e3o apenas alguns n\u00fameros do Hospital Universit\u00e1rio Pedro Ernesto (Hupe\/UERJ), cuja hist\u00f3ria teve in\u00edcio em 1950, quando foi inaugurado e fazia parte da&nbsp;rede hospitalar da Secretaria de Sa\u00fade do Distrito Federal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Em 1962, a Prefeitura do Distrito Federal passa a gest\u00e3o para a&nbsp;Faculdade de Ci\u00eancias M\u00e9dicas da Universidade do Estado da Guanabara (UEG), atual Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), onde viraria um hospital-escola privilegiando&nbsp;ensino e pesquisa, com o acompanhamento e estudo de raridades cl\u00ednicas e doen\u00e7as em est\u00e1gio final de evolu\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Em 1975, o Hupe\/Uerj passa a ser um hospital de atendimento geral, em decorr\u00eancia do conv\u00eanio firmado com o Minist\u00e9rio da Educa\u00e7\u00e3o e Previd\u00eancia Social (Conv\u00eanio MEC-MPAS). Devido \u00e0 qualidade dos profissionais que possu\u00eda e aos meios sofisticados de diagn\u00f3stico e tratamento que eram oferecidos, houve um progressivo aumento na procura pelo atendimento oferecido pelo HUPE, transformando-o em um dos maiores complexos docentes-assistenciais na \u00e1rea da sa\u00fade, sendo hoje, refer\u00eancia numa s\u00e9rie de especialidades e importante n\u00facleo nacional de forma\u00e7\u00e3o de profissionais na \u00e1rea m\u00e9dica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>J\u00e1 a hist\u00f3ria da Gastroenterologia do Hupe come\u00e7a em 1966, quando o Dr. \u00c9dson Jurado passa a ser o m\u00e9dico respons\u00e1vel pela especialidade e, junto com ele, come\u00e7am a ser realizados exames endosc\u00f3picos. At\u00e9 ent\u00e3o, o Dr. L\u00e9o Pinto Carvalhaes, da Cl\u00ednica M\u00e9dica, era quem cuidava dos casos de gastroenterologia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Na \u00e9poca, a Gastroenterologia ainda n\u00e3o era uma disciplina da Faculdade de Ci\u00eancias M\u00e9dicas da UERJ, era ligada \u00e0 Doen\u00e7as Infecciosas e Parasit\u00e1rias (DIP) e, em 1970, passa a ser ligada \u00e0 Cl\u00ednica M\u00e9dica, por interm\u00e9dio do Dr. Em\u00edlio Ant\u00f4nio Francischetti, para em 1971 ser&nbsp;criada a Disciplina de Gastroenterologia e Endoscopia Digestiva do Hupe\/UERJ, cujo coordenador era o Dr. \u00c9dson Jurado. Tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 criado o programa de Resid\u00eancia M\u00e9dica, com uma vaga sendo aberta anualmente e o setor passa a contar com auxiliar de enfermagem. A equipe m\u00e9dica aumentou, contando tamb\u00e9m com os Drs.&nbsp;Jos\u00e9 Augusto da Silva Messias e Alexandre Abr\u00e3o Neto, que passou a ser preceptor da resid\u00eancia m\u00e9dica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A infraestrutura da disciplina era composta por duas salas pequenas. As endoscopias eram realizadas em uma manh\u00e3 semanal no centro cir\u00fargico, pois a dire\u00e7\u00e3o considerava desnecess\u00e1rio ter uma sala exclusiva para exames endosc\u00f3picos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mas a disciplina vai aumentando cada vez mais, devido a quantidade de pacientes atendidos e exames realizados. Assim, na d\u00e9cada de 80, s\u00e3o contratados mais m\u00e9dicos, como o Dr. Paulo Pinho, \u00e9 inaugurado o ambulat\u00f3rio de Gastroenterologia no pr\u00f3prio Hupe\/UERJ, e o Dr. Fernando Alvariz assume a coordena\u00e7\u00e3o da disciplina. Tamb\u00e9m nesse per\u00edodo, o Dr. \u00c9dson Jurado pede exonera\u00e7\u00e3o da universidade e a Hepatologia passa a fazer parte do setor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>J\u00e1 na d\u00e9cada de 90, a disciplina passa a contratar mais m\u00e9dicos ainda, como o Dr. Ricardo Alvariz e as Dras. F\u00e1tima Figueiredo e Ana Teresa Pugas, e ganha novas instala\u00e7\u00f5es, amplas e modernas. Dr. Fernando Alvariz se aposenta em 1994 e, com isso, o Dr.&nbsp;Alexandre Abr\u00e3o Neto assume a coordena\u00e7\u00e3o da disciplina, que ocupa at\u00e9 hoje, com o&nbsp;Dr. Paulo Pinho ocupando seu lugar como preceptor da resid\u00eancia m\u00e9dica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No in\u00edcio dos anos 2000, come\u00e7am os ambulat\u00f3rios de especialidades (Doen\u00e7a Inflamat\u00f3ria Intestinal, Hepatologia, Es\u00f4fago, Gastrogeral) no Hupe\/UERJ, migrando para a Pol\u00edclinica Piquet Carneiro em 2013, onde hoje h\u00e1 sete consult\u00f3rios para atendimento multidisciplinar. Em 2012, iniciam-se as linhas de pesquisa para o come\u00e7o da P\u00f3s-Gradua\u00e7\u00e3o Stricto Sensu (Mestrado e Doutorado), o que culmina em v\u00e1rias publica\u00e7\u00f5es cient\u00edficas e apoio financeiro oriundo das ag\u00eancias de fomento, como a FAPERJ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoje, a Disciplina \u00e9 composta por seis professores e 15 m\u00e9dicos, atendendo no HUPE (Endoscopia Digestiva) e nos ambulat\u00f3rios da  <br>Pol\u00edclinica Piquet Carneiro, que se tornaram centros de refer\u00eancia estaduais, como os ambulat\u00f3rios de Hepatologia e o de Doen\u00e7as Inflamat\u00f3rias Intestinais. Todas quartas-feiras, das 7h \u00e0s 12h, a equipe se re\u00fane e realiza atividades cient\u00edficas com debates de casos cl\u00ednicos, palestras, apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o de artigos e outros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mas a hist\u00f3ria da Disciplina de Gastroenterologia e Endoscopia do Hupe\/UERJ n\u00e3o \u00e9 feita somente de grandes realiza\u00e7\u00f5es, crescimento e excel\u00eancia de atendimento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Em 2017, com a crise financeira do Governo do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, o hospital quase fecha as portas chegando ao ponto de n\u00e3o haver nem aparelho endosc\u00f3pico para exames. Atualmente, com a crise sendo contornada, j\u00e1 h\u00e1 mais de 20 aparelhos de endoscopia e s\u00e3o realizadas diariamente endoscopia digestiva alta e baixa diagn\u00f3sticas e terap\u00eauticas,  ecoendoscopia, CPRE, enteroscopia por c\u00e1psula. A unidade endosc\u00f3pica terap\u00eautica, por ser essencialmente cir\u00fargica, conta com ampla e capacitada equipe de enfermagem e t\u00e9cnicos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"187\" height=\"235\" src=\"http:\/\/socgastro.org.br\/novo\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/fatima.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7546\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Mas a maior tristeza veio em 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Uma perda inestim\u00e1vel&#8221;, assim descreveu o Dr. Alexandre Abr\u00e3o Neto sobre o falecimento da Dra. F\u00e1tima Figueiredo, aos 49 anos, v\u00edtima de um c\u00e2ncer de mama muito agressivo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At\u00e9 hoje ela \u00e9 lembrada pelos m\u00e9dicos e professores do setor seja pela profissional e pessoa que era, como pelas fotos de momentos de confraterniza\u00e7\u00e3o da equipe expostas no mural do setor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure
