Brand\u00e3o Filho, j\u00e1 um ilustre cirurgi\u00e3o e o pr\u00edncipe da Cl\u00ednica M\u00e9dica, Prof. Silva Mello. Eram muitos casos de doen\u00e7as do aparelho digestivo e os tr\u00eas debatiam como agir, tratar clinicamente por mais algum tempo, operar desde logo, como orientar o diagn\u00f3stico, por que meios, quais os casos anteriores&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Nessa noite nasceu a id\u00e9ia de se criar uma Entidade para o estudo e aperfei\u00e7oamento da Gastroenterologia.<\/p>\n<p>Entusiasmados, os tr\u00eas tocaram para frente a id\u00e9ia, conversaram (e convenceram) os colegas mais representativos e o sonho se tornou realidade: em 12 de maio de 1938, 57 assinaturas na ata inaugural, tornavam real e atuante a ent\u00e3o \u201cSociedade Brasileira de Gastroenterologia e Nutri\u00e7\u00e3o\u201d em reuni\u00e3o solene na sala de Medicina e Cirurgia do Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n<p>Nascia assim, a primeira Sociedade de Gastroenterologia do Brasil e da Am\u00e9rica Latina.<\/p>\n<p>Com a mudan\u00e7a da capital Federal, o nome mudou para \u201cSociedade de Gastroenterologia do Rio de Janeiro (SGRJ)\u201d e depois para &#8220;Associa\u00e7\u00e3o de\u00a0Gastroenterologia do Rio de Janeiro (AGRJ)&#8221;, mas a ideia inicial permaneceu intacta e progressiva.
